The Allergy-Immunology Fellowship at the Feinberg School of Medicine is of two years duration, leading to certification in Allergy-Immunology. For fellows planning to pursue an academic career, there is the possibility of an additional year. In addition to inpatient and outpatient rotations at Children’s Memorial Hospital (CMH), the A-I fellows rotate to Northwestern Memorial Hospital (NMH) for three months of consultative inpatient and ambulatory training. Formal teaching programs include a joint weekly journal club with NMH in which a fellow and an attending physician critique pertinent articles on a rotating basis, a weekly didactic lecture on clinical or investigative aspects of allergic and immunologic disorders and a weekly conference at CMH that focuses on pediatric topics. The A-I Division at Children’s Memorial Hospital is an active tertiary referral center that receives a large number of patients with rare and challenging diseases as well as a large number of patients with common complaints. As a result, fellows in A-I have an outstanding opportunity to gain clinical management skills for both routine and unusual diseases. Our division has active clinical practices and research programs many areas, but especially in the areas of food allergy, asthma, and immune deficiency.
