He has published many papers related to Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infections in immunocompromised and normal hosts; most recently his involvement with EBV research has been with its relationship to post-viral fatigue (chronic fatigue syndrome). Other areas of research interest include adenoviral and respiratory viral infections (such as influenza and respiratory syncitial virus), chronic granulomatous disease (an immune deficiency disease), HIV infection and studying a new antifungal agent (micafungin) in children and adolescents undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
