My research interests center on promoting health equity and addressing disparities in children's health. Other work I've done relates to medical decision-making in pediatrics, including the process of prognostication, the ethics of decisions about life-sustaining treatment, patient and family needs in the PICU and in palliative care, and decisions about participation in genomic research.[Shorten text]

Clinical Focus

I attend in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital, and on the palliative care consult service. I also chair the Lurie Children's Ethics Advisory Board and perform clinical ethics consultation. I'm passionate about providing excellent care to critically ill and injured children as well as those with life-limiting illnesses. As part of this work I'm also very involved in providing care to medically complex and technology-dependent children and their families.
