Residency Program Directors
Thank you for your interest in Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. Our program offers world-class training in a world-class city that serves a large, racially, ethnically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse community. Trainees from across the country and the world will choose to join us at Lurie Children’s every year. Our program’s mission is to provide the highest quality education to every trainee and the highest quality care to every child and family. We seek to recruit, welcome, and support pediatric residents with diverse backgrounds, lived experiences, and wide-ranging interests in advocacy, research, medical education, and clinical care. We know we learn better, deliver better care, and think more creatively and expansively when we do. The culture of learning and teaching is a point of enormous pride for the program and department. Our daily case conferences are a highlight for residents, students, and faculty alike. Our residents teach us as well as learn from us, and through the teaching that happens on service and conferences, we strive to create a sense of enduring intellectual curiosity, clinical excellence, love of medicine, love of science, and a passion for clinical care.
Engagement, passion, compassion, humility, curiosity, teamwork, and communication are vital elements of this process. We seek residents who have a growth mindset and are ready for the challenge of contributing to a program that is always working to improve ourselves, as well as the lives of children and their families. Our program is both structured and flexible. We provide exceptional clinical training as well as intentional and individualized opportunities for residents to explore and advance their skills and interests in science, advocacy, policy, education, program development, informatics, quality improvement, business administration, health services, and more.
Finally, our residents get to do all of this while living in the vibrant and dynamic city of Chicago, the best big city in America, with its world-renowned food, architecture, festivals, neighborhoods, museums, music, recreation, beaches, and more.
If you are interested in collaborating with us, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We welcome your questions and interest.
