Kerri Z Machut

Associate Professor, Pediatrics (Neonatology)

As an academic neonatal critical care physician, Kerri is passionate about supporting infants and their families on their NICU journeys, both directly and through research and initiatives focused on improving family-centered care. She leads various initiatives in family-centered care, both locally at Lurie Children's Hospital as the co-Medical Director of Patient Family Experience and nationally through the American Academy of Pediatrics' (AAP) Family Centered Care Task Force and Children's Hospitals Neonatal Consortium. Her research in this domain evaluates family perspectives and patient out...

Natalia Henner

Assistant Professor, Pediatrics (Neonatology), Pediatrics (Palliative Care)

My academic focus is on understanding parental and providers' variability in addressing complex care decisions during prenatal and neonatal course. I am also focused on various aspects of perinatal palliative care delivery, and optimizing care pathways for families expecting infants with complex and/or life-limiting conditions. Finally, I am interested in studying and improving symptom management in infants with complex conditions in the Neonatal ICU.

Marta Perez

Assistant Professor, Pediatrics (Neonatology)

Dr Perez's research interest is in neonatal pulmonary development, pulmonary hypertension and glucocorticoid signaling. Specifically, Dr Perez's research focuses on the impact of hydrocortisone, a glucocorticoid commonly used in the NICU, on alveolar and pulmonary vascular development as well as effects of glucocorticoids on pulmonary vascular remodeling and nitric oxide signaling pathways.

Meghan E O'Neill

Assistant Professor, Pediatrics (Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics)

Dr. O'Neill specializes in the comprehensive care of children with neurodevelopmental disabilities. She completed her undergraduate degree in psychology and pre-professional studies at the University of Notre Dame, her medical school degree at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, a general pediatrics residency at Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago, and a neurodevelopmental disabilities combined residency/fellowship at the Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Patricia Chiamas

Instructor, Pediatrics (Hospital-Based Medicine)

As the Division Head of Hospital Based Medicine Outreach, I have focused much of my clinical interests surrounding clinical simulation activities and quality improvement. More recently, we are using both of these tools to develop pediatric core competencies for the pediatric hospitalist.

Avani V Shah

Assistant Professor, Pediatrics (Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine)

I am an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine. My focus includes high risk asthma and medical education. I also serve as the Fellowship Director of the Pediatric Pulmonology Fellowship.

Assistant Professor, Pediatrics (Emergency Medicine)

As an attending physician in Pediatric Emergency Medicine, I seek to obtain expertise with data science and machine learning methodologies to better elucidate phenotypic characteristics and more precisely identify interventions in the pediatric acute care setting. I derive satisfaction from treating pediatric patients with acute care conditions in the pediatric emergency department in a team with residents, nurse practitioners, and nurses. Candace N Mannarino

Assistant Professor, Pediatrics (Cardiology)

Dr. Candace Mannarino is an attending physician in the divisions of cardiology (cardiac intensive care) and pediatric critical care medicine. She has a Master's in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety. She is the Associate Program Director for the Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship and the Director of the Pediatric Critical Care Clerkship. She is also the Faculty Lead of the Cardiac Care Unit Simulation Program at Lurie Children’s.
