I was appointed Head of the Division of Hematology, Oncology, Neuro-Oncology & Stem Cell Transplant in October 2023 after having served in the interim role for almost 2 years. In this capacity, I am excited to lead our division and Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD) through the next critical phase focused on growing our service line and developing a more robust research enterprise. Lauren M Pachman

Professor, Pediatrics (Rheumatology)

Dr. Pachman's translational team studies Juvenile Myositis (JM), an often chronic pediatric systemic vasculopathy associated with skin inflammation and proximal muscle weakness of unknown etiology. Her laboratory has identified genetic, immunologic and environmental factors that play a role in the onset of symptoms and govern outcome. RNASeq, miRNA and Gene expression micro array studies of untreated children's diagnostic muscle biopsies identified massive dysregulation of IFN-a induced genes in JDM. Joanna S Blackburn

Associate Professor, Pediatrics (Neurology and Epilepsy), Medical Education

Joanna Blackburn, MD received her medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine, completed her pediatrics residency at NYU and her child neurology residency at Northwestern University/Children's Memorial Hospital (now Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago). She then completed a fellowship in pediatric movement disorders at University of Rochester. She joined the faculty at Northwestern University/Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago in 2012. Additionally she has been the program director for the child neurology residency training program since 2013.

Sarah Jurgensmeyer Langas

Research Assistant Professor, Pediatrics (Genetics, Genomics, and Metabolism)

Sarah received her Master of Science in Genetic Counseling from Northwestern University and was certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling in 2020. She started her career at Lurie Children’s providing pediatric genetic counseling services in the Division of Genetics, Genomics, and Metabolism. In 2024 Sarah joined the Heart Center as the second genetic counselor in the Cardiovascular Genetics Center. My interests are focused on diagnosis and treatment of children with Gastrointestinal and Liver disease. Specifically, I focus on gastrointestinal endoscopy, both for diagnostic purposes but also for new modalities of therapy and diagnostics including treatment of GI bleeding, complex polyposis syndromes, Gastrointestinal Strictures, treatment of Portal Hypertension, capsule endoscopy, Single Balloon Enteroscopy and new techniques such as Trans-nasal Endoscopy. Theresa Moulton

Associate Professor, Physical Therapy and Human Movement Sciences, Pediatrics

Dr. Sukal-Moulton is a faculty member with a primary appointment in the Physical Therapy and Human Movement Sciences Department, where she teaches in the Lifespan, Treatment of Patients with Neurological Dysfunction, Complex Patients, and Electrophysical Agents curriculum, with a focus on pediatrics. 

James W Collins, Jr

Professor, Pediatrics (Neonatology)

Dr. Collins earned BS and MD degrees from the University of Michigan and a MPH from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He’s the medical director of the neonatal intensive care unit and the associate program director of the pediatric residency program at Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. He has authored numerous research articles and is a frequent lecturer on issues related to birth outcomes. Dr. Collins has received several awards for his research, teaching, and leadership in infant health.
