Jami L Josefson

Associate Professor, Pediatrics (Endocrinology)

I am a physician scientist with a research interest in the developmental origins of obesity. I study metabolism in pregnancy and the near and long-term metabolic outcomes in children. My long-term goal is to facilitate early intervention to prevent obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Rebecca L Carl

Associate Professor, Pediatrics (Advanced General Pediatrics and Primary Care)

Dr. Carl completed her residency in Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin. She completed a fellowship in Non-operative pediatric orthopaedics at the University of Wisconsin and a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Rush University.

Associate Professor, Pediatrics (Advanced General Pediatrics and Primary Care), Medical Education

My primary interest is in the career advising of medical students.

Jennifer A Strople

Professor, Pediatrics (Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition)

My primary clinical interest is pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis) with a goal to improve outcomes in patients with these diseases. My research overlaps with this clinical interest through participation in ImproveCareNow, a collaborative chronic care network that focuses on improving care and health of children with ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease, and in several clinical studies that will advance understanding of these complex diseases and better direct clinical care. John B Palla

Assistant Professor, Pediatrics (Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine)

My main focus is in the clinical care and research of cystic fibrosis. I am also interested in outreach and advocacy for children with chronic pulmonary conditions.

Karen A Mangold

Associate Professor, Pediatrics (Emergency Medicine), Medical Education

I completed my fellowship at Children's Memorial Hospital and have been an attending at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital since graduating in 2011. I am involved in the kidSTAR Health Professions Education program, and I am the program director for the Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship. I am also the program director for the Master of Science in Health Professions Education at Feinberg.

Erica Y Popovsky

Assistant Professor, Pediatrics (Emergency Medicine)

Dr. Popovsky is a pediatric emergency medicine physician and serves as the Medical Director for Emergency Preparedness at Lurie Children’s Hospital. Her academic interests include pediatric emergency preparedness, critical care delivery in the emergency department and simulation. She is passionate about simulation development for mass casualty preparedness and response and how interdisciplinary teams can best prepare for low-frequency, high-stakes events. Rachel S Bercovitz

Professor, Pediatrics (Hematology, Oncology, and Stem Cell Transplantation)

Dr. Bercovitz is fellowship trained in Pediatrics, Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/Stem Cell Transplant, and Transfusion Medicine.

Simon Lee

Associate Professor, Pediatrics (Cardiology)

I am an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and a pediatric cardiologist with expertise in advanced non-invasive imaging and coronary artery anomalies. I am the Medical Director of the Kawasaki Disease Program and Medical Director of the Coronary Anomalies Program at the Heart Center at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. My research interests involve the use of advanced cardiovascular imaging in the clinical assessment and management of patient with coronary artery abnormalities, including coronary artery aneurysms from Kawasaki disease and anomalous coronary artery origins.

Amanda L Hauck

Associate Professor, Pediatrics (Cardiology)

My primary interests are in pediatric congenital cardiology and pulmonary hypertension including the care of infants and children with pulmonary vein stenosis.  I have specialized interest in the use of pediatric echocardiography to evaluate heart function in children with congenital or acquired heart disease using advanced techniques. My research goals lie in assessment of pulmonary hypertension and establishing the best non-invasive measures of heart function and in children.  I also study the imaging and treatment outcomes of children with pulmonary vein stenosis.
