Advocacy

Our faculty partnered with the Lurie Children's government affairs team to pass 405 ILCS 40/0.01, adding Spinal Muscular Atrophy to Illinois' newborn screening.

This mandate enables early gene therapy, providing a potential cure for an otherwise fatal disorder.
