Faculty Spotlight

Jennifer P Rubin

Associate Professor, Pediatrics (Neurology and Epilepsy)

In addition to caring for infants, children, and adolescents with a variety of neurologic conditions, Dr Rubin has specialized training and interest in acquired demyelinating diseases (multiple sclerosis, transverse myelitis, neuromyelitis optica) and genetic white matter diseases (leukodystrophies). She serves as the director of Lurie's Leukodystrophy Care Center, a multidisciplinary program developed to provide the best possible care to patients with leukodystrophies and their families at every stage of their disease. 

Marta Perez

Assistant Professor, Pediatrics (Neonatology)

Dr Perez's research interest is in neonatal pulmonary development, pulmonary hypertension and glucocorticoid signaling. Specifically, Dr Perez's research focuses on the impact of hydrocortisone, a glucocorticoid commonly used in the NICU, on alveolar and pulmonary vascular development as well as effects of glucocorticoids on pulmonary vascular remodeling and nitric oxide signaling pathways.

Mahima Keswani

Assistant Professor, Pediatrics (Nephrology)

Mahima Keswani, MD, is a Board Certified Pediatric Nephrologist and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She serves as the Medical Director of Dialysis for the Division of Nephrology.  She received her B.A. in Biology from Rutgers University, and her M.D. degree from the Rutgers School of BIomedical and Health Sciences (formerly University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey). Dr. Keswani completed her residency in Pediatrics at Children's National Medical Center in Washington DC and her fellowship at Boston Children's Hospital in Boston, MA.

Robert Gregory Webster

Assistant Professor, Pediatrics (Cardiology)

I am a pediatric cardiologist and electrophysiologist, originally from Chicago. My wife's family and my family both live in the midwest and I have two children.

Margot A Paisley

Assistant Professor, Pediatrics (Hospital-Based Medicine)

Dr. Paisley is a hospital-based pediatrician. She received her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania and completed her residency training at the former Children's Memorial Hospital (now Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital) where she served as Chief Pediatric Resident. Her interests include teaching and advising in undergraduate and graduate medical education, and the development of evidence-based clinical care guidelines.

Marco S Almeda

Instructor, Pediatrics (Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine)

I attended medical school at Creighton University with my pre-clinical years in Omaha, NE and my clinical years in Phoenix, AZ. I then moved back to the midwest for a general pediatrics residency at Indiana University in Indianapolis and stayed to complete a combined pediatric pulmonology and sleep medicine fellowship. I started as an attending at Lurie Children's in August 2024.

Philip T Thrush

Associate Professor, Pediatrics (Cardiology)

My primary clinical interests include pediatric cardiomyopathy (including cardiomyopathy associated with neuromuscular disorders), heart failure and heart transplantation. My primary research interests focus on heart transplant related complications, especially antibody-mediated rejection and cardiac allograft vasculopathy, as well as pediatric heart failure.

Danielle C Beachler

Assistant Professor, Pediatrics (Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine)

My medical training began at the University of Texas in Houston where I received my MD degree and moved to Kansas City to complete my residency in Pediatrics at Children's Mercy Hospital. My fellowship training in Pulmonary Medicine was completed at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas. I then moved to Austin, TX where I served on the faculty of The University of Texas Austin and Dell Medical School for 9 years before joining the team at Lurie Children’s in November 2024.
